A historical man lies in the St. Louis Cemetery #1, New Orleans.  It reads:

SACRED

To the memory of William P. Canby, Midshipman of the U.S. Navy, born Norfolk, Va 1796 who fell in the unequal contest between the U.S. Gun Boat Squadron and the British Floatilla on Lake Borgne near New Orleans Dec. 14, 1811.
